U.S. SQUASH is pleased to announce that the 2009 U.S. Open Championship will take place September 2 - 6 in Chicago at Pioneer Court, in front of the 401 N. Michigan Avenue building.

Based on the success of the first year 2008 Sweet Home Chicago Open, held at the same location, which played host to the first major outdoor professional squash tournament in North America, the U.S. Open will increase the prize fund to $52,500, ensuring many of the top players in the world - from last year?s champion, Peter Barker, to World No. 6 David Palmer - will compete on this iconic stage.

With Chicago a candidate to host the 2016 Olympics, and squash being one of seven sports considered for addition to the Games, the U.S. Open presents a unique opportunity to showcase the sport and the city in one of the most publicly accessible venues in the Midwest. If you caught any of last year?s Sweet Home Chicago Open action, you know that this venue on Michigan Avenue offers a sports experience like none other!
